Staccato click

of claws

on gravel, grass, stone.

Clink and jingle

Metronomic wag

Four fleet feet,

a scant ten pounds,

she sets a lively pace

  1. Beautiful pooch. Love her markings. And the poem is to die for.

    • Thank you, Robert 🙂 She’s a wonderful companion — full of enthusiasm and strong opinions! I feel like I recall you have a small dog, also. They have no real understanding of their size in relation to the rest of the world! It’s inspiring…and, sometimes, worrisome!

      • We have two Chihuahuas, both of which believe they’re much bigger than they are. Much fun!

  2. I love this so much!! your words so well describe your experience with Josie…. I can feel it!!!!!
and the photo is absolutely wonderful!!!!

    • Thank you, Colleen 🙂 This one was knocking around in my head for a bit before it settled down to cooperate (much like Josie, herself!)
