“Swan” — C.Birde, 11/18

Four white bodies,

whiter

than Autumn snow;

sleek and blemishless

and smooth

as the far horizon;

     extending,

          reaching,

               stretching,

and –

with each near-silent,

muscular stroke –

                    beating

brisk air

to cream.

    • Thank you 🙂 Two days ago, these four swans flew a mere 10-15 feet overhead as I stepped outside…but for the “creaking” of their wings, they were utterly silent… It was a gift to witness them! <3

    • Thank you — the swans themselves were lovlier 🙂 <3

  1. Love this poem and love seeing your artwork as well.

    • Thank you — a small, quick drawing…since, regrettably, I did not capture an actual photo of the swans 🙂
