Retreat — A Poem

Linger.jpg
“Rose” — C.Birde, 2/18

I will retreat

to a rose-covered cottage,

pull the fern door

closed and

draw the ivied curtains.

And only those

who hold birdsong

in their mouths

and wear the breeze’s

honeysuckled breath

in their hearts

may enter.

Only those

who bear

love

❤️

Wintersong — A Poem

Dormancy.jpg
“Wintersong” — C.Birde, 1/18

Sing softly,

sweetly to Winter –

that bare-boned,

pared-raw

season of ragged echoes.

Curl your lips round

the North wind,

round those clear

bright notes,

and,

with sweet ardor,

sing.

Saturation — An Image

“Saturated Light” — C.Birde, 12/17

May we

invite Love to

saturate all we do;

to light our way when we stumble,

stray.

Messages — An Image

Never forget

to take the time

to read those notes

tucked amongst the trees,

carried along the air’s current,

laid

— gently, sweetly —

at your feet.

You — A Poem

Us.png
“Us” — C.Birde, 11/17

Wide awake,

in fully-present,

part-suspended state,

I dreamt of you –

from yesterday;

and thirty years ago.

From the many days

between.

Those images –

edges eased,

contours softened –

aligned,

one upon another.

Years —

meaningless;

momentous;

manifest.

Your smile,

your laugh –

so dear to me –

remain

unchanged.
