“Fragments” — C.Birde, 7/20

Fragmented

space

time

breath

Fragmented

world

life

self

Collected

slips

scraps

snatches

Collected

lines

threads

words

All,

palm-cupped

heart-fastened

clasped

like

dust

sea-glass

pebbles

cicadas’ spent

shells

Reworked

refashioned in

imperfect

whole.

This tenacity,

this persistence,

this work of

being.

  1. I love that you used the photo to inspire your poem, you are a wonderful human being ☺️

    • It was actually the other way around — the poem began forming Monday, took shape Tuesday, and then the photo came in support (thanks to your “challenge”!) <3

    • Thank you so much. We’re all fragmented, I suspect, and struggling to put the pieces together…!
